Knowledge Organisers
Below are our Knowledge Organisers for Autumn and Spring term.
Our Autumn term enquiry question: Can one person change the world?
Children will learn about our world's seven continents and five oceans. In History, we learn about Christopher Columbus and how his voyages helped people learn more about the world. We will learn about how pollution is affecting our oceans and create our own clay sculptures of sea creatures. In Art, we will explore the artist Mandy Barker and how she helps our planet by using recycled materials in her photography. We will reflect on how we can become more sustainable to change what is happening in our world, including by making sustainable Christmas baubles.
Our Spring term enquiry question: How does the past affect the future?
Children will learn about George Stevenson and why he is referred to as "the father of the railway". We will learn how what he achieved back in 1829 has had an impact on train travel today! We will also learn about the Titanic and look at creating our own artwork inspired by it. We will explore how life was different for different people back then. Exploring how because of what happened on the Titanic safety rules are now a lot different than they were! We will design and make our own form of transport that is sustainable for the future based on what we learn.
The sticky knowledge will be the same on the flash cards we use to help children remember the knowledge in school as well as on our displays. The yellow words are focus vocabulary words.
