Autumn Term - England
Reception discovered that we live in the country of England and learnt that its capital city is London. They explored some of London's famous landmarks and also found out that England has a King called King Charles 👑 To help them understand where England is in the world, they explored a range of maps including globes, atlases, and Google Maps to locate England and see how it fits within the wider world.
After learning all about King Charles III, the children enjoyed creating their own portraits of the King. They looked carefully at photographs and discussed his features, thinking about the colours and details they could use to make our pictures as accurate as possible. The children showed great concentration and creativity as they drew their portraits.
They also made their own England flags, helping them to recognise the flag of our country and develop their understanding of the world around us.
