Autumn
How can I make a difference?
In Autum Term, Year Five have a Geography focus for our Enquiry which allows us to explore the world. The children learn all about Brazil, The Amazon Rainforest and focus on the impact climate change is having on our world. The children portray their understanding by creating a narrative, non-chronological report and a haiku poem.
We use this information to consider how we can make a difference to the world. We explore this by looking at influential people such as Greta Thunberg who is an environmental activist. In Year Five, we look at human and natural causes to climate change and what we can do to save our planet as there is no planet B!
Science
In Autumn Term, our focus in Science is all about changing materials and living things. We have completed many experiments which explore reversible and irreversible changes alongside exploring life cycles of plants and animals. We have chosen to look at the life cycles of sloths, toucans, mosquitos and salamanders as these are found in The Amazon.
