Computing
Computing at Forest Glade Primary School aims to encourage interest in and enjoyment of algorithms, developing and using different programs and how information technology can be used beyond school. We want to give children an understanding of how different technologies can be helpful and how they can use the internet and search engines safely.
This is achieved through a range of learning opportunities and experiences delivered as a discrete subject separate to our enquiry. Children learn key knowledge and are encouraged to develop the skills of computing such as keyboard and word processing functions, the use of spreadsheets to collect and interpret data and how to write programs in order to carry out simple tasks.
A year 6 computing student can:
- Describe a program they have made to carry out a simple task.
- Explain how they can use search engines and the internet.
- Describe how they can keep themselves safe online.
