Curriculum
Maths
In Maths during the Spring term, children will be studying a number of units including multiplication and division, measure (area), fractions and decimals.
MTC
Please support your child with their multiplication facts.
Each child has a login for Times Tables Rock Stars, which is glued into the front of their reading diary. There are 5 different single player games and they can also join in on multiplayer games too. Soundcheck is the game which is most similar to the format of the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) that the class will sit in June 2023.
Every Year 4 child is required to know their multiplication facts up to 12 x 12 and will need to recall these in under 6 seconds during the test. We will of course be practising in school, but it is best for them to practise little and often.
English
In English during the Spring term, our writing will be linked to our Enquiry question, “Is conflict ever justified?” which focuses on the Romans and their invasion of Britain.
We will be writing a diary entry based on the Romans invading us at Forest Glade, a narrative, a non-chronological report about the impact of the Roman Empire and a balanced argument focusing on our question.
In Key Stage 2, it is necessary for the children to be joining their handwriting. Their joining must be clear and legible, so they need to feel confident and comfortable with forming their letters.
Children will also be assessed on their spelling. Please see the homework page for the list of Year 3/4 Common Exception Words.
Enquiry
Our Autumn Enquiry question is: Is conflict ever justified?
This is a History based unit of work focusing on the invasion of the Romans in Britain and how they impacted our country.
