Summer Term - Woodland Animals

Reception have been learning all about woodland animals and their features and habitats. They discovered that owls build nests, while badgers create their homes in underground setts. The children were also fascinated to learn about the life cycle of an owl.

To bring their learning to life, they were excited to welcome Alistair from Hawkeye Falconry, who introduced them to two beautiful owls. They watched a three-year-old owl named Squeak gracefully fly around, and had the opportunity to get up close to Cookie, a six-month-old baby owl.

Some of the children showed great bravery and even held an owl, while others enjoyed having their photo taken alongside them. It was a truly memorable experience for everyone — what a fantastic way to deepen our learning! 🦉✨
