Physical Education
PE at Forest Glade Primary School aims to encourage interest in and ability to complete different sporting activities whilst fostering a positive, lifelong relationship with exercise. We want to give children an understanding of how to play different sports and the importance of exercise in keeping ourselves healthy.
This is achieved through a range of learning opportunities and experiences delivered as a discrete subject separate to our enquiry. Children learn key knowledge and are encouraged to develop the skills of a sports person through explicit teaching of techniques and opportunities to apply them over time.
A year 6 sports person can:
- Describe how they might create a gymnastic sequence and what it might include.
- Describe ways to throw and catch and explain some rules to at least one sport.
- Describe how they develop dance sequences to music.
- Swim at least 25m using 3 different strokes.
