PSHE at Forest Glade Primary School aims to encourage interest in and enjoyment of how we can develop ourselves to become healthy physically, mentally and within our relationships with others. We want to give children an understanding of the different aspects of physical and mental health, how to keep their relationships healthy and themselves safe in the world.
This is achieved through a range of learning opportunities and experiences delivered as a discrete subject separate to our enquiry. Children learn key knowledge and are encouraged to develop the skills of PSHE such as enquiring into what can help them to stay healthy physically and mentally and how they can develop healthy relationships with family and friends as well as keeping themselves safe through managing risks.
A year 6 PSHE student can:
- Explain different ways they can stay physically and mentally healthy and describe the ones that are effective for them.
- Describe risks to their safety and how they can manage them.
- Describe how to make positive friendships and manage hurtful behaviour such as bullying.
