Enquiry
This terms enquiry is a History theme. Throughout our enquiry sessions this term we are going to be answering the question, "How can we help others?", looking at the role of Robin Hood. Each week will we be building up our knowledge to answer this question.
Week 1
We have been learning about a person from the past (Robin Hood). We can recall facts about him and know how he helped others.

Week 10
This week we have been identifying and investigating materials. We have been on a material hunt around school and found objects made from glass, metal, plastic, wood, paper and fabric. We have also worked in small groups to build castles out of each material and tested its strength to see which material would defend Robin Hood's bow and arrows.

Every Wednesday we have an enrichment day with Nursery. Throughout the children's time within EYFS we aim to provide them with as many enrichment opportunities as possible. We hold weekly activities such as cooking, arts and crafts, outdoor learning and library visits. Throughout the year we hope to add much more to our curriculum, ensuring children get a breadth of experiences. These enrichment opportunities may change and are dependent upon the children's interests.
Maths
Number:
Children in Reception will be recognising and naming digits (1-10) and applying the cardinal principle to groups of objects to 10. They will also use counting to share and group objects and become confident using and applying the part whole model, to explore number composition 1-5. They will have an awareness of mathematical symbols, automatically recall number bonds to 5 and solve real-life maths problems with numbers up to 5.
Numerical Pattern:
Children in Reception will accurately count items to 10 with one-to-one correspondence and verbally count to 20 aloud, with not all teen numbers in sequence. They will name the days of the week confidently and understand the days of the week are in an order and can recall them. They will copy and continue a more complex patterns e.g. ABC, ABB, ABBC and know that groups can be created both equally and unequally, recognising and identifying this with increased reasoning. Children will be able to identify one more/ one less to consecutive numbers and begin to explore the pattern of double facts to 5.
Shape, Space and Measure:
Children in Reception will discuss the features of a familiar route and represent these using detailed marks. They will identify 2D shapes circle, square, rectangle and triangle and start seeing shapes within shapes e.g.: the triangle and square in a house. Children will be able to discuss and explore the concept of ‘half’ when discussing capacity or sharing, discuss events with an adult using the terminology today, yesterday and tomorrow and are able to begin comparing elements of measure.
Children will study each of these topics through group led sessions as well as within their play, discovering and having hands on experiences within the provision.
